Each year, JWU hosts the Future Food Scholarship Competition, a recipe competition for U.S. high school and transfer students enrolled in one of JWU’s food-related programs. At JWU Charlotte, CFIT faculty have spent years in the field as chefs, sommeliers, bakers, product developers or dietitians. They bring these experiences to life as practical classroom lessons about sustainability, food security and global food systems. And they will help you develop the connections and professionalism to succeed.

Our classes and programs transfer directly to four-year schools such as Queens University, UNC Charlotte, UNC Chapel Hill, and Appalachian State University. Central Campus is also home to College and Career Readiness classes to help you finish high school, learn English as a Second Language (ESL), or work towards a career. You can take many general education/core classes at any Central Piedmont campus. Refer to individual program pages for course requirements and location availability. The amount of experience you have, the kind of restaurant or another environment you work in, and whether or not you specialize in a particular cooking style all affect how much money you can make as a chef.
